Online booking for barbers, nail techs, and tattoo studios

Barbers, nail techs, and tattoo artists all work the same basic shape: one chair, one client at a time, a book that lives or dies on how full it stays. Generic scheduling tools rarely fit it, because they are built for meetings, not for a fade, a full set, or a six-hour sleeve. The good news is that the quirks of chair-based work are easy to set up for once you name them.

Match slot lengths to real work

A skin fade is not a beard trim, and a small linework piece is not a back session. Set a separate service for each, with the time it honestly takes, including cleanup and setup. The most common mistake is booking back-to-back on optimistic durations, then running late all day. Pad the slots that always overrun and your calendar starts telling the truth.

Take deposits on the long ones

When a no-show costs you three or six hours, a deposit stops being optional. Tattoo artists especially should take one up front - it filters out the people who were never serious and covers the chair time if someone vanishes. For shorter cuts you may not need it; for anything over an hour, it pays for itself the first time it saves a slot.

Make regulars rebook in one tap

Chair trades run on regulars - the four-week trim, the two-week fill, the monthly maintenance. The easiest booking you will ever get is the one a happy client makes on their way out. A booking link they can save, plus a reminder when they are due, turns "I should book in" into a tap. That rhythm is the whole business.

Leave room for walk-ins

Online booking does not mean the end of walk-ins. Keep a couple of slots open, or mark certain hours as walk-in only, so the door stays alive without wrecking your booked appointments. The point is to take the back-and-forth out of the planned work, not to lock the door on someone passing by.

For these trades, that is almost always Instagram. Your work is the advertising - the link in your bio just turns a scroll into a booking. Add it to your bio, your story highlights, and your Google profile, and let the page handle the "you free Saturday?" so you can keep your hands on the work.
