Set up online booking in an afternoon
Аутор the hey.booked team

Taking bookings online sounds like a project. It is not. The phone that rings during a haircut, the messages you answer at 9pm, the "do you have anything Friday?" back-and-forth - all of that is the actual work, and a booking page quietly takes it off your plate. You can set one up in an afternoon, between clients, without touching code.
The goal is not to digitise everything at once. It is to get a single link you can share, where someone can see what is free and grab a slot in seconds. Here is the calm version of getting there.
Step 1: List your services
Start with what you actually offer and how long each thing takes. A cut, a colour, a consultation, a 60-minute massage. Honest durations matter more than tidy ones - if a colour really takes ninety minutes, say ninety, so your day does not quietly fall behind. Add the price while you are there; people booking a known price are people who show up.
Step 2: Set your real hours
Tell the page when you actually work, including the lunch you guard and the day you keep for yourself. Block the breaks you need before clients can book over them. The point of online booking is not to be available all the time - it is to make your real availability visible so nobody has to ask.
Step 3: Decide on deposits
You can skip this and add it later, but a small deposit on longer or higher-value bookings is the gentlest way to cut no-shows from day one. It does not have to be much - enough that the slot feels committed to, not enough to scare anyone off. If you are unsure, start without one and turn it on only where it helps.
Step 4: Turn on reminders
This is the step that pays for itself. A confirmation when the booking is made and a nudge the day before will do more for your full calendar than anything else here. Set them once, write them in your own voice, and let them run in the background.
Step 5: Share the link
Now put the link where people already look for you: your Instagram bio, your Google profile, your WhatsApp auto-reply, the bottom of your emails. One link, everywhere. The first online booking usually lands within a day of sharing it - and from then on, the page does the asking and answering so you do not have to.
You do not need every feature switched on to start. Services, hours, reminders, and a link is a working booking page. Everything else - deposits, staff, packages - you can layer in once the basics are quietly running.
